Big Deep — Woodstock, NY — Debut Album Summer 2026
Founded by Jordan Fairless (bass, vocals), formerly of Spafford, and Luke Schwartz (guitar, vocals)—whose credits span the Glenn Branca Ensemble and collaborative work with Thomas Newman, Rick Cox, and Jon Hassell—Big Deep delivers clever, melodic songwriting with indie soul and harmonic depth.
Big Deep was born in Woodstock, New York. After years of relentless touring and a life-altering collision, Fairless stepped away from the highway and into a period of renewed creative purpose. In the Hudson Valley, he found an ideal collaborator in Schwartz, a downtown experimentalist whose musical language was shaped by New York's avant-garde tradition.
Together they built Big Deep. The sound is indie rock with expansive groove and addictive melody; '90s alternative grit wrapped in southern soul with a honky-tonk sway over soaring synths and an unstoppable drum groove. The result is something that feels good to be around.
The band's genesis lies in the intersection of two veterans of the road and studio. With Big Deep, Fairless and Schwartz have synthesized their vast experience into a sound that prioritizes pocket-heavy movement and melodic earnestness. It's melody-forward but rhythm-possessed with songs that feel intimate but expand outward, and the music moves like groove-rock with funk in its bones and the restless energy of the city flowing through its veins.
Bass / Vocals — Formerly of Spafford
Co-Founder of Spafford (2009–2024). The creative architect behind one of the leading independent jam-rock bands of the 2010s, Fairless blended technical innovation with soulful songwriting to help shape the modern indie-jam landscape and pioneered early DIY touring and production systems. Primary Writer & Vocalist of "Leave the Light On" — Spafford's most-streamed track with ~4 million Spotify plays and thousands of vinyl sales.
